I have found over the last 20 years of working, that it is very important to find your rhythm during the day and you can do just about anything. Some people refer to it as “the zone”, that place where everything just seems to flow your way and you are focused and productive. The reason I prefer “rhythm” is because it is really easy to find the rhythm in music and I believe just as easy to find it in work, if you are listening and it’s the listening that most people miss.
It’s no different than anything else you decide to concentrate on; what you deem important becomes important. If what you do is something you choose to do well and become the best at then nothing will stop you from hearing what you need to hear to find the rhythm of your job and do it well. Since most Americans hate their job, it’s almost impossible to do something you hate well. Its amazing productivity is as high as it is since this situation continues to deteriorate over recent years. If we encouraged people to do what they loved to do then finding the rhythm in their work would be as easy as it is for me.
