I’m sure that everyone has heard of NBC’s popular hit series, the Office. I, myself, am guilty of watching the hilarious sitcom. But when the fifth season started, I noticed that the episodes were much more linked. It didn’t have much affect on the humor but it made it hard to understand what was going on if you had missed an episode or two. But with sixth season that is airing, I am finding my interest in the show waning.
It is my belief that the show has jumped the shark. I mean the show still has its funny moments but it is nowhere near the hilarity of the first three seasons. I believe that the cause of the shows going downhill was the long-awaited wedding of two of the shows most important characters: Jim and Pam. The tension between the two as they tried to hide their feelings for each other was always so funny and there has been no replacement for that now that the two are hitched. It’s clear that the makers of the show tried to avoid this being the end of the show because they put this climactic moment in the middle of a season.
And don’t get me wrong. I loved the characters’ wedding. I think I even cried. But the event is probably the most important occurrence of the entire series and now that it’s happened the laughs just aren’t as good.
