There was a time in my childhood when I could not stand board games. But since reaching my twenties and beyond, I have had a reawakening. Bring back the board games… where are the other people that have this same passion. I have tried time and time again to start board game parties with no success. The real reason behind the failure may be my intense competitive nature. But I am willing to be on a winning team if I can find enough people, but usually the parties allow one person per team because I just can’t seem to recruit.
I recently did take a stab at Balderdash. Although describing the game really leaves the novice player thinking, ‘great what did I get myself into?’ Once the game gets starting, some great moments are bound to happen. Bluffing and creativity is the name of the game. A word is read aloud and each player has to come up with a definition. Now these words are not your average words and rarely does anyone know the correct definition. Based on who can come up with the definition everyone else thinks is the correct one, you get points. Example word: zugzwang. What do you think it means?
